This week sees the launch of the UK’s largest
breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now,
created by the merger of leading research charities Breast Cancer Campaign and
Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary
of this regional fundraising group, a Glamorous Garden Party (a collaboration
with Linc) is being held at South Cerney Manor home
of Laurence and Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen, patrons of both charities. The sell-out
event on 3rd July will include a bring & buy plant stall, a fabulous
raffle and a selection of live musical entertainment and stylish stalls. Acts
will include The Femmes, MJ-UK Music & Arts (including Dan Holley of The
Kingdom Tenors who reached the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent this year), Lindsay Martin, George Montague
and the fabulous Curious Little BIG Band. Welcome cocktails have been kindly
sponsored by Whitley Neill Gin and Bottle Green Drinks which will be served in beautiful
teacups from Cotswold Vintage Party Hire.
The group was set up
in 2005 by Eira Hooper and Amanda Homan-Green of Cirencester, when Eira was diagnosed with this hideous disease. “We decided
to focus our energy and do something positive to help create a future free from
the fear of breast cancer for our daughters and future generations,” said Amanda.
“Sadly Eira lost her fight in 2008 but thanks to our wonderful and
dedicated patrons and committee members, who volunteer their time tirelessly, we
continue the fight that Eira started by organising fun fundraising events
throughout the year. What's more, every penny raised will go towards helping Breast
Cancer Now fund their vital research and help us to achieve their ambition to
put an end to breast cancer by 2050”.
